Subcellular Stability Characteristics of the Central Carbohydrate Metabolism

Abstract:The analysis of a subcellular biochemical network is complex and non-intuitive. This complexity arises from a highly interlaced structure and tight molecular regulation. Here, we analysed the stabilization and destabilization characteristics arising from a fluctuating plant-environment interaction within the central carbohydrate metabolism in leaves of Arabidopsis thaliana. The applied method is based on the real parts of eigenvalues of Jacobian matrices, allowing the fast simulation of millions of enzyme kinetic parameter constellations. Finally, this enabled us to derive statistically robust patterns of stabilization in a metabolic homeostasis.
